Cycle training
Cycle training is available from a range of sources across Lanarkshire, with options to suit all age groups and abilities. Cycling Scotland offer a variety of widespread courses catering to groups from pre-school to adults, plus a range of specialist courses from road awareness to cargo bike riding. Their free Bikeability programme is Scotland’s national cycle training programme for school children.

Cycle practice and led rides
Led Rides can be a great way to get out and about on your bike, especially if you’re new to cycling or not feeling too confident going out on your own. They can also be a great way to meet new people and discover cycling routes around your area. Led Rides are available through a range of groups for all ages and experience levels. What’s more, most groups offer bikes and equipment if you don’t have your own.
- Getting Better Together offer a bike bus service which allows children to travel safely to and from school, building their confidence and forming the habit of active travel at a young age!
- Social Track have regular led rides exploring the local woodland around their Wishawhill Pump Track, and have organised rides across Lanarkshire in conjunction with other community groups to highlight the importance of road safety and active travel
- Climate Action Strathaven offer women-only cycles with experienced ride leaders at their regular CAS Cycling Sisters group.
