Ground source heat pumps
Ground source heat pumps (also known as ground-to-water heat pumps) use the heat from the ground to heat your radiators/underfloor heating. It can also heat water stored in a hot water cylinder for household use.
The heat pump does this via a loop of pipes buried in your garden or outdoor space. Thermal transfer fluid (a mixture of water and antifreeze) flows around the loop where the fluid absorbs the heat from the ground. It then passes through a heat exchanger into the heat pump where it raises the temperature and transfers the heat to water.

- Lowers your carbon footprint significantly.
- Is more efficient than air source heat pumps as underground temperatures are pretty constant (between 10-13°C).
